ATLANTA (April 27, 2010) – R&B sensations Sammie, Lloyd and Algebra will join forces to headline a Haiti Benefit Relief Music Fest Friday, April 30 to assist Georgia Perimeter’s students in raising money to help Haiti rebuild after a disastrous earthquake.
The GP Student Government Association initially planned a spring concert for the campus’ pleasure but the purpose quickly changed from a social to a humanity event supporting the efforts of Haiti.
“We all want to play our part in this international catastrophe,” said Coordinator of Student Life Programs and Advisor to SGA, Perry Culverson. “Generating funds is always a positive. Regardless of our ethnicity, we’re all connected. We took something we were going to enjoy for ourselves and put it on a grander scale to help our neighbors.”
The GPC Foundation will sell event passes to students for $5 and non-students for $10. With the proceeds from passes sold and event concessions, one hundred percent of all donations will go to www.AHomeForHaiti.org to provide tents for individuals in Haiti.
In addition to headliners, comedian Mark Viera will host, Qaabir Howard, an on-campus contest winner, Vicci Martinez, former American Idol contestant, and DJ Class will perform. Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. and the concert will start promptly at 7 p.m. Event passes can be purchased at any GP campus.
Invited media outlets are asked not to film any portion of the concert due to school regulations; however, videographers can still conduct interviews after the concert. Photographs of performances and artists are permitted.
The concert will be held at Georgia Perimeter College Clarkston Campus in the gymnasium, located at 555 North Indian Creek Dr. Clarkston, GA 30021.
